As part of Radiant Collective's A Match(a) Made in Heaven series, I want to show you all how I make my latest favorite snack! If you follow me on Instagram, you're no stranger to my frequent pics of bowls of green tea ice cream. Well, I've spent the last couple weeks perfecting my process and I can't wait for you all to learn how I make this delicious dessert. Let's get started!
Above are your two ingredients that you'll need to make your own green tea ice cream! I bought all my ingredients from Trader Joe's. The most important item is Matcha green tea, which comes in a powdery form that you can pick up in most alternative grocery stores (World Market, H Mart, etc). This will be what turns your ice cream from boring vanilla to yummy green tea! I didn't make the ice cream myself; I purchased Trader Joe's Soy Frozen Dessert, but you can use any generic vanilla ice cream.
First, scoop out your ice cream into a deep bowl. You'll want to have lots of room to mix the Matcha. You should use about one tablespoon of powder for every scoop of ice cream. This next part is a little strange, but bear with me.
Mix the powder into the ice cream until it's pretty liquidy. As you stir, the ice cream will melt. To speed up the process, you can nuke it in the microwave for no more than 20 seconds. Don't worry, it'll refreeze later! Keep mixing until you can't see any of the vanilla coloring, add Matcha if necessary. Once you've got a big, goopy green mess in your bowl you can put it in the freezer. I usually leave it in for about an hour.
After your ice cream is refrozen, take it out and enjoy!
