There are just so many things going on right now. This time last year I was just starting my blog (when it was Radiant Collective) and living in D.C. I had moved from my hometown, San Diego, to live on campus before my freshman year of college for a bridge program. While I missed out on my first three month summer, I did have a great time in D.C and think about the experiences I had there often.
I enjoy staying productive over the summer, especially since it's such a large bulk of time. If you're not involved in projects or work, three months can sure seem like a bore. Luckily for me, this is not the case. This month and the months following are packed with lots of exciting things, so here's what you should be on the look out for...
The Curly Adventures.
For all things curly related, tune into the Curly Adventures mini-series on my blog. Launching this month, the Curly Adventures will chronicle my journey navigating a world made for straight hair. Six episodes, plus a series introduction, coming soon. Be on the look out!
I can't say just yet, but there are three publications I will be contributing to.
Unapologetic Magazine is an excellent online platform for photography and writing created by Women of Color who will not apologize for their existence. I've loved watching this magazine evolve and I feel truly honored to contribute an original piece to their publication.
Another wonderful publication that has accepted my work is Margins Magazine, a publication for people who fall outside the typical racial and gender binaries. I submitted an original piece to Margins talking about my biracial identity; I can't wait for you all to read it!
And finally, The Pulp Zine is the third publication that will feature my writing. The essay I submitted to them is a piece I am immensely proud of; I worked on it for weeks and finally stumbled upon a publication whose platform matched with the content of my essay. Look for "Blackness is a Journey" on the Pulp Zine this month!
I'm not usually a makeup kind of gal, but I admit that I've been a little obsessed with highlight and experimenting with brow routines this summer. Expect some affordable, skincare centric product reviews this month!
I'm dipping my toes in the lookbook side of blogging. It seemed very fitting this summer because I've gone on quite a few shopping sprees since I've been home. You can expect to see more posts under the "style" category of FloreaShelby.
And finally, in the midst of all these new projects and ideas I've thrown at you in this short post, I will continue to do what I do best: bring useful, mindful content to all lovers of skincare, beauty, and self-care. There will always be new DIYs and product reviews on FloreaShelby, and I want to thank you all for joining me on this journey.
Peace and love, everyone.
Let's welcome July, prosperity, and creativity into our lives!
