About eight months ago, I made a post about my "Simple Makeup Essentials." This is an updated version (even simpler) with natural ingredients to give you a lighter, more natural look. Before, I made the mistake of overdoing the brow powder and using waaaay too much foundation. But we'll get to all that in a minute.
As many times as I've tried to get into full-face makeup, I can't bring myself to enjoy anything about it. It takes too long, products that won't mess up your skin can be super expensive, and it feels heavy. I wear glasses, so eye makeup never turns out the way I want it to. My skin is very sensitive and I really hate the way that foundation feels on my skin. So, considering all these complaints it's no wonder that I'm a lazy gal when it comes to my every day face routine. Props to the people who do rock a full face of makeup on the daily. It takes real skills and practice to master the art of makeup... It's just not for me. No shame, though.
The "no make up" make up look is a growing trend. Brands like Glossier and Milk, which both branched from online blogs/magazines, are pushing the natural look. It's nice to have companies finally cater to people like me, who have always been lazy when it comes to makeup but still wanted to get into it!
Here are the four products I use the most.
I've recently switched to jojoba oil in the daytime (my favorite moisturizer that I never shut up about has now been assigned the nighttime shift). It's perfect for giving me that glow-y finish without making my face look greasy or oily. Bonus: it's 100% natural.
This isn't really foundation, it's more of a skin tint. Some days, when my skin hasn't had any problems in a couple weeks, I will actually use some foundation and mix it with my Shea Moisture moisturizer. But most of the time I just slather on some of Glossier's skin tint, in the shade deep, to even out my skin tone.
In the photo above, I didn't even bother to do my eyebrows. That's a rarity, though. I usually use Anastasia's Beauty Express palette in brunette. I'm still growing out my eyebrows (it's a real struggle) so I haven't been using the brow powder on it, because well, it doesn't make much of a difference. These brows are going to stay messy and unkept until I get them done again.
Once you use Glossier's Haloscope in Topaz, you'll never want to look back. This was the second highlight I ever purchased, the first one being ColourPop's Glo Up. I love how silky and moisturizing Glossier's highlight is. I don't feel like it cakes on or looks unnatural. You can use my code here to get 20% your first purchase at Glossier, too.

Make up should be fun and never a hassle. If you genuinely enjoy doing your make up, then more power to you! But you should never feel like you have to walk out of the house with a full face. I know it's hard to celebrate your natural features, I still get self-conscious about my dark marks from acne scarring. Make up is an excellent way to embrace your natural beauty and accentuate it with an extra oomph. So go on and share your shine!
