Many months ago, I posted a DIY Refreshing Morning Mist to help start your mornings on the right foot. I also promised a follow up post where I would teach you how to make the sister nighttime mist!
I believe in utilizing natural ingredients/items to enhance different aspects of your life. Crystals help ease my anxiety and set intentions. Natural oils allow me to care for my skin without putting toxic ingredients into or on my body. While these things cannot "fix my life" for me, they definitely give me the tools and energy I need to make the changes necessary.
Just like the Morning Mist, the Nighttime Mist will help you redirect your energy into the things you're trying to accomplish. This mist puts you into a soporific mood, allowing for a much needed nighttime cool down. It's like meditation in a bottle. After using this nighttime mist, I feel the way I do after a meditation session.
It's really just a very easy combination of essential oils with relaxing properties. You don't even have to put them into a spray bottle, you can just smell the oils from the bottles they're already packaged in. Most grocery stores have an aromatherapy section for you to purchase these oils in
The two smells that instantly make me sleepier are lavender and rosemary. You can personalize your nighttime mist. Maybe the smell of citrus really makes you sleepy (even though citrus generally has energizing effects), throw some of that in there! I guarantee that lavender and rosemary will have calming effects, but of course you're welcome to experiment with different scents.
In a small spray bottle, I fill it about half way with water before adding no more than 5 drops of each essential oil. You don't want the mist to be overpowering, rather just subtle enough to work it's magic.
Spray your new mist over your pillow and around your sleeping area before bed. If you're really having trouble sleeping, you can try taking a melatonin pill or gummy. Sweet dreams!
