Happy Monday everyone! I decided to spend my Spring Break in D.C instead of going home. Three days in and I am loving everything about it! There are few people in the dorms, which means I can sing as loud as I want, take longer showers with hotter water, and have the kitchen to (mostly) myself! I've also taken advantage of this time by going out and doing all the D.C things I've always wanted to do. Can you believe I hadn't been to the Botanical Gardens? I spent about two hours in there on Sunday meditating, taking photos, and feeling myself breathe. Here are some quick pics from my visit.
After the visit, I went to my favorite florist on U Street and bought myself some delphiniums and spider mums. They're sitting happily on my windowsill right now. And today I bought tulips so I could make floral water out of them! It's the same process as making rosewater, which I explain how to make here, but I added Florida water to the mixture.
You can do this with any flower or herb. I still have yet to make floral oil, which requires dried petals or herbs and a lot of time. Making floral water is a lot faster! Here are some uses for it:
- Wash your face with it!
- Add witch hazel and turn it into a toner (post face washing).
- Add it to a spray bottle and use it on the ends of your hair.
- Add it to a spray bottle and cleanse your space with it.
- Charge crystals with it.
I boiled the petals until they completely lost their saturation, then I strained it using a muslin bag and let it cool in this mason jar. It looks absolutely majestic against the candle light. Easy and super versatile.
That's all for today everyone! I hope you're adjusting well to the Daylight Savings Time change.
