I've always wanted to make my own rosewater. I had planned to over the summer but I just never got around to it. This weekend, my best friend and I stopped by a hole-in-the-wall florist shop. I picked up three roses and rushed home right away to make it. This DIY isn't unique to any of the other ones you'll find on other blogs, but I still wanted to share the photos from this process!
I used two of the three roses by plucking the petals off, running them under some water to get rid of any chemicals, and then placed them in a pot. I added water after that (about 2 cups, since I eyeballed it), put it on the stovetop, brought it to a boil then let it simmer for about 45 minutes.
So far, I've used the rosewater as toner after I wash my face in the morning and nighttime. I'm also brainstorming different uses for the rosewater, I can't wait to create some DIYs that use rose petals!
I also wanted to announce some exciting news! I've been chosen as a vendor for an art show in the DMV area. I'm really looking forward to sharing my poetry and skincare tips with everyone. In the meantime, you can download my zines here.
As we ease into November, I can't help but feel really proud of myself for how far I've come. Since I moved back to D.C for my second year of school, I've solidified friendships both locally and back home, gotten more in touch with my spirituality, secured my first job ever, and declared my major. Everything seems to be falling into place. I'm surrounded by the most supportive people and I'm finally starting to feel like I'm at home here.
Sending you love and light.
