This is going to be a very powerful weekend, I can feel it. I also know this because I keep track of the moon cycles religiously. Sunday's Full Moon will be in Virgo, prompting us to take care of matters of the home, body and task/responsibility aspects in our lives. Full Moons in general are potent with cleansing, releasing and fulfilling energies. It is the end of a cycle where we reap what we sowed during the New and Waxing Moon phases. And, as a Virgo (who, as a bonus fun fact, was also born under a full moon) I will be taking Sunday's energies very, VERY seriously.
Virgos are generally characterized as critical, analytical, cautious, and generous individuals. Personally, I attribute my love for staying indoors to my Virgonian nature. I also believe I'm guided by the Greek goddess, Hestia, whose domain lies in the hearth and home. Virgos as Earth signs are particularly grounded, in touch with the natural cycles and spirits of the Earth, and take much pride in the home. A cluttered house represents a cluttered mind, two of which a typical Virgo cannot stand.
As part of Sunday's Full Moon ritual, I will be inside my dorm room cleaning out clutter to welcome guiding energies as the moon begins to wane (get smaller). The home is a sacred place to me, which is something I hadn't realized until I moved out of my parents' house. In college, I started understanding why my parents had stressed respect so much. I cannot stand a messy, cluttered room (or at least my own side) and I honestly attribute having a dirty living space to my own failures or frustrations. I'm so excited to do some spring cleaning!
Virgos also rule digestive systems, which is why they are associated with the solar plexus chakra. It's not uncommon for Virgos to have indigestion problems, especially if they are empaths or suffer from anxiety. Weekends in general are times when I can dedicate more time to self care rituals, but this Sunday in particular, I have a lot of different bodily cleansing activities lined up. Among doing an herbal facial steam to open my pores up, drinking lots of tea to flush out unwanted toxins, and buying fruit to snack on, I'm going to use the new skincare products that Artifact Skin Co. sent me earlier this week!
They sent me the Egyptian Honey Rose Masque, which has a strong floral/almost citrus like scent and gooey consistency. I loved the small plastic applicator that the mask came with, as I'm becoming more conscious of how finger applying my products can contaminate them! I left the mask on for about 15 minutes when I first tried it earlier this week; I'll probably leave it on a little longer this weekend after my facial steam. My skin felt so dewey and hydrated after washing it off.
In crafting your Full Moon ritual, use products that bring happy, satisfying feelings. Is there a mask that you always go back to? One that you use after a hard day? Maybe now is time to use Virgo's practical guiding energies to pick a new mask! You probably won't have to look far. Virgos recognize that all they need is within them, or at least within arm's reach.
Artifact also sent me their Mint Clementine lip balm. I'm in love! I usually use Vaseline, but I am very excited to add this small tin to my essentials bag. It had a strong scent, but it wasn't flavored. The balm didn't make my lips feel caked or greasy. It has the perfect amount of natural gloss to finish!
This weekend is also a good time to go down my to-do list and check off as many things as I can. My spring break starts this weekend and I already have a lot in store. Of course, not everything on my to-do list is serious! As some of you might remember, this time last year I got my first tattoo. In following the March/Women's Month/Spring Break theme (and a promise I made my parents), I'm going to get my second tattoo this break. Woohoo!
I also have smaller tasks that I can't wait to complete like:
- Making more home cooked meals at home. This won't be hard because I'll pretty much have the dorms to myself and as much time as I want.
- Whipping up more batches of lotion! I'm going to sell small tins of the homemade lotion to people at school.
- Sleeping whenever I want. Hey! That's a task.
- Reading more books for fun. I've started "Jambalaya" by Luisah Teish, which is an easy to read and informative book about African/African American spirituality. I'm almost done with "Goddesses in Everywoman" and "Loose Woman" by Sandra Cisneros.
So as you can see, I have a lot lined up for the upcoming week! I wish you all a peaceful and productive weekend.
Until next time and with love from your favorite Virgo!
