Happy November, friends! I can already feel the promise of transformation and healing that this new month holds. I'm very excited to enter the colder months, as this will be the first time I feel fully equipped to handle the winters. It's a combination of my experience living in D.C for two years now and the ever-increasing global temperature.
For the last few weeks, I've placed a greater emphasis on what I consume. I've cut out red meat from my diet for about two months now. Dairy consumption is minimal - it's really only ice cream and occasional yogurt. I rarely eat meat, and when I do it's chicken. I'm experimenting with vegan meals, as well, and I feel empowered when I have healthy options in my kitchen. Keeping my snack stock to a minimum has also helped me to be more conscious of what I eat!
I wake up at 9:30 every morning. Rising is becoming easier and more natural. I set some intentions, usually while I'm still in bed, do a few stretches to get the blood flowing, and begin my morning wash/cleansing routine. Breakfast is very important to me! If I don't eat enough in the morning, I get tired quickly by the end of my first class and my whole day is messed up! I work a lot, pretty much every day and during late afternoon hours, so sticking to a filling and nutritious eating plan is necessary.
Here are two ideas for healthy, yummy and energizing breakfasts! I ate both of these dishes yesterday and felt energized well into the late afternoon hours.
Granola + Fruit + Cereal
Simply add some granola and berries to your cereal of choice! I eat my cereal with almond milk, which is yummy and super good for you. This meal ensures that I have a little bit of fruit at the beginning of my day, as well as grainy goodness.
Hazelnut Spread + Strawberry Toast
Toast sourdough bread in oven for a few minutes. Add hazelnut spread and thinly sliced strawberries! I've stopped purchasing Nutella because it has so much sugar (18g compared to Nutella's 21g)! I started buying this similar, but healthy, alternative from Whole Foods. It's thicker and I haven't had to purchase another jar in over a month - and I make this as a breakfast and snack very often.
With a new month comes the excitement and joy of creating new intentions, or goals. How will I spend my month? What projects will I begin or finish? Are there new things I want to try? What are my responsibilities and how will I make time for the things I want to do?
Here are some of my November intentions, to get you inspired to set your own:
- Journal or craft every day
- Look into ways to maintain and run a successful Etsy shop
- Finish my research papers for my classes
- Leave the city at least once!
- Continue to create skincare products. Maybe even sell them?
You don't need to be too specific or have detailed expectations of what you want your month to look like! It is important to be specific enough so that you can actually bring these ideas to fruition. For example, you'll want to write something more along the lines of "start meditating and doing yoga" rather than "be mindful." But setting these intentions for yourself will help you to create the month you want for yourself. Refer to your list often. Be realistic! This does not mean "watering it down" or giving yourself "easy" things to check off, but it does mean you are taking the process of creation and manifestation into consideration. Everything takes time and intention.
That's all for today, everyone! Here's to a productive and heart-warming November.
