Greetings, loved ones! I trust you’ve all ushered in the “New Year” in your own ways! This newsletter is coming to you a bit early to prepare for the New Moon this Wednesday, the 17th, with many planets in Capricorn! Who’s feeling the intensity of this season? The presence of Saturn is strong and influencing us in a number of ways. From finding stability in our work to reevaluating our relationship to structure and authority, as well as our own Divine Masculine elements, we’re in for quite a treat. Though it might not feel very rewarding right now, Capricorn asks you to focus on the climb itself. Can you pour your energy into the seemingly mundane steps needed to actually arrive at your destination? Will you allow the destination to inspire you, rather than become an object of fixation and obsession? As it winds down the New Moon will grace the skies to remind us that we, too, exist within cycles meant to aid our growth.
I’m sure by now you recognize how effortlessly you ebb and flow as a Being. Whether you’ve noticed your behavior change with the Moon, the astrological season or the transits impacting you personally, you are never stagnant. I think one of the biggest misconceptions of Capricorn is that they are boring, predictable and work-obsessed. And then I think about the gif of the woman saying “maybe so.”
This has been my most transformative Capricorn season. Throughout the whole season, there’s been a very apparent “take it or leave it” attitude. Your relationship to a patriarchal authority figures not benefiting you? Dump it. Realizing you’ve been unintentionally affirming realities that limit you? Fuck it. To me, Capricorn is an ever persisting Being with a clear mission and an even clearer drive to obtain its rightful glory. As the sea goat travels up rocky terrain and is met with unfriendly waters, they often take another look at their baggage and choose to discard what will hold them back on their journey.
This Capricorn season, it’s due time to reassess the “baggage” that you choose to hold onto. Ask yourself whether not these weights are keeping you grounded or preventing you from moving at all. This season, I’ve reevaluated my relationship to behaviors that no longer serve me and the authoritative figures that perpetuate them. I.e: after spending a lot of time with my parents, I realized I did not want to validate many of their toxic behaviors after briefly being sucked into them myself! But this season has also been hugely transformative for me as an aspiring self-employed magical gal. I began solidifying more concrete and feasible goals for myself and my business, then made the moves to secure that foundation. Part of moving with Capricorn energies, in tandem with the New Moon, is affirming that change and newness are needed. You can have change, but if the same behaviors and tendencies are still present, it might not really be change.
Personally, I’m pushing myself to think bigger. I tend to be very hesitant and enjoy predictability. That’s the territory that comes with being a Virgo sun and Capricorn rising. But those placements also allow me critically look at what’s working and redirect my focus, in a practical way, to the ultimate intention. “Thinking bigger” is something that I don’t usually do, but even the days leading up to the New Moon are activating a part of myself that wants to switch things up. You can step out of your comfort zone in the name of your intention. It is so safe to do so, loves. Capricorn season isn’t about rigidly following a pre-drawn map to a uniform model of success. It’s not about limiting yourself or keeping your head down, focusing only on the road. The road is not linear and it’s certainly not set in stone! Capricorn knows how to move mountains, remember this.
As the New Moon approaches, you may be called to discard and replace what no longer benefits your greater vision. Know that you can do so with love and ease. Call upon that Divine Masculine and clearly discern your boundaries and what you will accept. Ask yourself questions to understand your relationship to change and success on a deeper level. Do you believe you are capable of success, but perhaps by other people’s standards? Are there affirmations that you find yourself repeating that are actually causing resistance or tension because in truth, they do not resonate anymore? It is safe to let these bags down, leave them where they are, and proceed on your journey as a lighter and wiser version of yourself.
On the New Moon, it would be an excellent time to write down intentions for a transformation that you are welcoming. We are nearing the end of the zodiac signs, with Aquarius followed by Pisces. I’ve spoken about the magical importance of Winter before, but I’ll reiterate this once more! The Winter season is a deeply internal time where we are called to retreat back into ourselves, shed the layers that are cracked and worn out, and truly tend to our raw selves. As the world is covered in darkness, so too are we drawn to the shadows. We tend to our dry, raw and rough skin so that we can emerge in the Spring as newly-exfoliated and polished! And it’s also important to note that great initiatory energies come with the commencement of Aries season, like Ostara (end of March, Pagan and Wiccan Sabbat celebrating Spring)! So as we are entering the thick of Winter, call upon the Capricorn New Moon for a big boost of focus, intention and motivation to continue doing the personal work by affirming what's working.
